Metamorphosis Aesthetics No. 1

80x80 cm

This series centers on the theme of female transformation, weaving the biological wonder of metamorphosis into a vivid visual metaphor for spiritual renewal and transcendence. The artist dissects the delicate architecture of butterfly wings, reimagining them as a constellation of geometric symbols. Through inventive techniques like wood panel cutting and three-dimensional collage, she shatters the confines of traditional painting, evoking both the struggle against and the reconstruction of life's boundaries. Each piece pulses with the energy of rebirth, forging a distinctive visual language that is uniquely her own and marking a bold leap from the tangible to the spiritual.

Metamorphosis Aesthetics No. 2

80x80 cm

At the heart of the artwork, the '88 Butterfly' emerges as a vibrant symbol: in Hebrew culture, '88' marks the dawn of new beginnings, while in Chinese tradition, it radiates with the promise of prosperity and abundance. By weaving together these Eastern and Western emblems, the artist crafts a rich tapestry that explores life's transformative journey, inviting viewers into a multidimensional conversation that bridges theology, aesthetics, and the wonders of the natural world.

Starry Night Butterfly Kiss

106×50cm

Wong Tanmei, a contemporary artist, finds her muse in the Common Bluebottle and Paris Peacock butterflies that flutter through Hong Kong. She reimagines these creatures, giving them three pairs of wings and a surreal grace that lifts them beyond the boundaries of the natural world. Her work weaves together ecological observation, poetic storytelling, sculptural forms, and innovative lighting, reflecting her passion for crossing artistic borders. As light and shadow dance across the wings beneath a star filled sky, they become a metaphor for transformation and the quiet emergence of inner brilliance. Through these butterflies, Wang invites viewers to converse with the night, discovering the romance, resilience, and enduring glow that nature and the human spirit share.

Apocalyptic Steeds: A Contemporary Reckoning

80x80 cm

This artwork takes Chapter 6 of the Book of Revelation as its textual reference, unfolding a visual speculation that merges theological imagery with contemporary critique. Through three-dimensional wood collage, the artist constructs a visual system of faith that integrates apocalyptic revelation with social concern. The barcode on the white horse, the violent metaphor of the red horse, the imbalanced scale in the black horse's hand, and the mark of death on the pale horse are collectively encoded as a profound critique of power, war, social injustice, and the end of life. In the composition, the sun and moon fall into disorder, stars plummet, while a stretch of azure sky subtly hints that, beneath the serene facade, humanity questions existential meaning and ultimate purpose. The work achieves an equilibrium between classical narrative and contemporary symbols, judgment imagery and poetic space, elevating art beyond mere representation into a cross-temporal dialogue imbued with philosophical depth and spiritual tension.
